Impeach Bush (for real this time!)
Or at least shut down the C.I.A. and rebuild the Justice Department from scratch! This morning, the New York Times broke the news, in a 5-or-6* page article, that the Bush administration has had internal secret documents explicitly authorizing the use of the harshest torture techniques, in blatant disregard for piles of nation and international laws, and against their own public claims. Last July, when it was leaked that the CIA had secret jails and used torture techniques, and Bush ordered that everyone be moved to Guantanamo and clean up, it was all of one month before he secretly reversed the decision.

I'm sure most of us aren't surprised by all of this, but this is the sort of damning evidence that we were waiting for. That's it-- Bush can pack his bags. You don't go around authorizing the use of torture when we tell you not to! The game is up.

* The article was 6 pages when I started reading it, then they dropped a page out from under me. And the article is written by a James Risen (*whee!*).

James Risen... is that you from the future?!?!?!

ok, I'm going to go read the article. What upsets me is, I just don't knwo what to do about it. I feel liek everyone is so dissenfranchised these days and unless it's a sex scandle interest quickly fades.

Maybe I should make a editorial cartoon of Bush dressed up as a Dominatrix tourturing prisoners... Not that I can draw... but it would be funny.

That would be fantastic! Except it might give Dominatrices a bad name.

It frustrates me too how nothing every happens, and I think that's exactly how the powers-that-be want it to be. But I have to believe that ultimately, the power is in our hands, and that eventually people are going to realize that. And the sooner the better.

Too bad Bush'll never be impeached.

Unless he, like, kills a cute little puppy on national TV.

Dead puppies would certainly help things along, a lot faster than, say, violating Geneva conventions or whatnot. But never? Granted, there isn't much time left, so it would be a mostly symbolic gesture. But the Judiciary Committee chairman is a Democrat and Democrats considerably out number Republicans on that committee, impeachment only takes a majority vote, and besides, every time Bush blunders like this, it makes more Republicans try to find ways to distance themselves from him. Seems like a good election year shtick for everyone.

Exactly.

Therefore, the fact that it hasn't happened yet=>won't happen. The Republicans don't have that much interest in turning against their party, and the Democrats in Congress are clearly incompetent. :(

I'd like to torture the bastard myself actually.

Makes us look like damn hypocrites now when we criticize China and other countries for their human rights violations. Guess George Sr. never taught little Bush the golden rule.
